"Moving Flowers" is a photographic exploration of finding lightness within a grey day. Set against the muted atmosphere of a cloudy afternoon, vibrant flowers become the protagonists of a visual story about movement, joy, and resilience.

The story
These photos were taken during a short photowalk through Albert Park on a cloudy, gloomy afternoon. As I wandered around the flower beds, their vibrant colours stood out against the grey, murky sky. Looking at them, I wondered if there was a way to capture a happier, more uplifting feeling through photography.
That simple thought became the starting point for this project.
Fortunately, I had my XF 50mm f/1.0 with me, a lens that excels at close-up photography thanks to its beautiful shallow depth of field. It allowed me to isolate individual flowers and create a more intimate connection with each frame. The photoshoot itself went smoothly, but I felt the images still needed something extra to bring my idea to life.
Behind the scene
To create the impression of flowers dancing in the wind, I added subtle motion blur effects in Photoshop. It was a small adjustment, but it transformed the mood of the images and added a sense of movement and energy. Later, I realized that incorporating typography would further strengthen the concept and help communicate the emotions behind the series.
